Could you volunteer your time to support a Parent Carer in Hambleton and Richmondshire?
Carers Plus Yorkshire (CPY) are working with NYC Autism Social Prescriber in Hambleton and Richmondshire to support parent carers to access peer support from parents with lived experience.
We are recruiting and training volunteer peer mentors who will be matched with parents who currently have a child awaiting diagnosis or have recently received a neurodiverse diagnosis.
This is a great opportunity for anyone who would like to use their experience to provide peer support, understanding and a listening ear. The aim of the mentoring programme is to help parent carers to build resilience, self-confidence and reduce isolation through support from mentors who have similar experiences.
Parent Carer Mentors will provide one-to-one over the short term to help other parent carers build confidence and networking connections. Contacts could involve telephone calls, face to face meetings or small group support.
