I have long advocated the needs of carers, and having been a carer myself, I hope I have some understanding of the many difficulties and responsibilities carers face on a day-to-day basis. As Chair of our Trustee Board, I am committed to seeing our services grow and develop in the years to come, for the benefit of unpaid carers and those we support in the wider community. Before retiring I worked for many years in adult social care, and latterly for North Yorkshire County Council – this experience has given me a breadth of understanding I am pleased to be deploying into my role. I have been a member of the Scarborough & Ryedale Trustee Board for 8 years now, 6 as Chair and have found the role a privilege to hold. 2021 has brought our Charity some wonderful new opportunities, and as we look towards the future as ‘Carers Plus Yorkshire’, myself and the Board are delighted to bring you the knowledge, experience and support of our wonderful staff team across all our service areas.
