Carers Plus Yorkshire wins award for excellence
10/02/2026
Carers Plus Yorkshire delivers support across two key service areas. Our Adult Service (18+) provides tailored support for unpaid carers, home from hospital support, employability and training opportunities, as well as a range of community support for individuals who are ready to independently connect and access provision within their community. Home from Hospital is a free service helping patients make a seamless transition from hospital to home by providing support, reassurance and confidence-building. Our Young People’s Service supports unpaid young carers and young adult carers (including sibling carers), working with those aged 8–18, or up to 24 for young people with SEND.
Charities achieving the Carers Trust standard must demonstrate quality of service to unpaid carers across ten key areas including outcomes and impact, carer involvement, and information, advice and support.
In its report, Carers Trust said, ‘The organisation is a dynamic, forward-thinking service that places carers firmly at the heart of everything it does.’ And that ‘Carers Plus Yorkshire is a resilient, well-led, and highly respected organisation. The Board, senior leadership, and staff team should be proud of the exceptional work they do and the positive difference they make to carers’ lives.’
As well as signalling the quality of its services for unpaid carers, the award means Carers Plus Yorkshire partners and stakeholders can be confident they are working with an organisation that has best practice and sustainability at the heart of its work.
Elizabeth McPherson, Chief Executive Officer said, ‘I am delighted to say that Carers Plus Yorkshire has achieved yet again the quality award for ‘Excellence for Carers’ This award was presented to us by the national organisation The Carers Trust. The award recognises charities who provide outstanding services, advice and support to unpaid carers, demonstrating best practice, strong leadership and quality of services. As a charity dedicated to the support of unpaid carers from the ages of 8 to elderly to achieve this award is once again testament to the skills and commitment to make a difference to those we support. A massive thank you to all the staff, trustees and volunteers, we couldn’t achieve this without you.’
