Case Study
Here is a real-life story of a client we’ve supported. To protect their privacy, we have used a stock image.
This case involved a carer who moved in with her parents during the pandemic to support both while managing their increasing dementia-related needs. CPY provided emotional and practical support, including advice on respite, referrals for carer assessment, signposting to dementia services, safety measures, and guidance around care home transition following the death of the carer’s father. The carer experienced significant guilt, emotional strain, and financial pressure after giving up work, which was addressed through ongoing support, information about dementia, and wider family planning, including support for a sibling with learning disabilities. As a result, the carer regained confidence, returned to employment, improved her wellbeing and financial stability, rebalanced family life, and felt able to step away from 1:1 support, reporting reduced stress, time to grieve, and reassurance that her mother was well cared for.
