Professional and Business Opportunities

We work in partnership with local businesses, professionals and organisations to improve understanding, awareness and support for unpaid carers. Through a range of offers including our Business Carers Charter, Carers Champion Training and info for schools, we provide practical guidance on how unpaid carers can be better recognised and supported across different settings. Restology sits alongside this work, bringing partners together to help provide meaningful ‘time for you’ opportunities for the people we support.

What Our Partners Say

“As a small business it can be difficult to get promotion out there, both in the time needed and the additional costs. Working alongside Carers Plus Yorkshire is helping me raise the profile of my business as well as reach further client groups, that may not have had awareness of my salon before.  Any help in spreading the word and increasing my client base is really useful and much appreciated”

Business Carers Charter

Around 1 in 7 employees are unpaid carers and caring responsibilities cost UK businesses billions each year in lost productivity. Simple, flexible support can make a big difference by helping employees feel valued and supported. By signing the Business Carers Charter, employers can show leadership, boost productivity and enhance their reputation, while committing to recognising and supporting unpaid carers through flexible working, carer’s leave and promoting awareness within the workplace.

Charter signatories also gain access to training, resources, networking opportunities and public recognition as a carer-friendly employer, with happier and more engaged employees as a result. The Charter is awarded at three levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Carers Champion Training

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team of volunteer Carers Champions. A Carers Champion is someone within an organisation or community who understands the important role of unpaid carers and is aware of the challenges they may face.

After completing a short training session with us, you will receive ongoing support and guidance to ensure you have the knowledge, skills and resources to promote carer awareness and provide support within your workplace and community. New training sessions are arranged regularly, and if you would like to take part or host training within your organisation, please visit our events page or get in touch with us.

Information for Schools

Carers Plus Yorkshire offers a range of support and awareness opportunities for schools to help staff and students better understand the needs of young carers. These initiatives aim to create a more informed and supportive environment for both staff and students who are balancing caring responsibilities alongside their education.

We can provide Carers Champion training for staff and where suitable, students, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to recognise and support young carers within the school community. In addition, we can set up and run lunchtime hubs and deliver assemblies. A School Young Carers Charter is also in development, which will provide a framework for schools to further support their young carers in the future.
