Our New Carers Champion Training

Thanks to the support of the Masonic Charitable Foundation our ambitions will come to fruition in Carers Week 2021, when we will be launching our new Carers Champion training.

The training is designed to help establish an army of Champions, better informed and more able to support any unpaid carers they may meet within their workplace, social club, local community or simply within their circle of friends.  The online training package was initiated by our colleagues in Hull and East Riding, and by joining forces we have an ambition to recruit at least 2021 Champions in just one year.  We love a challenge at Carers Plus Yorkshire and so we couldn’t help but get in on the action and ensure we had our fair share of Champions across the coast and vale area.

As a Carers Champion, your role is vitally important but hopefully not too onerous. We would hope our Champions felt supported and confident to:

  • Be the first port of call and a friendly face for colleagues and peers/friends seeking information and support
  • Identify hidden carers within your immediate community, workplace and families; supporting them with signposting and/or referring to us at Carers Plus Yorkshire
  • Help us raise awareness of the support available through a range of mediums that you are comfortable with - social media, posters, talks, news updates, bulletins etc.
  • Keep connected to Carers Plus Yorkshire ensuring you are up to date with the most current support offer for Carers and operate as a conduit for information

The training itself is online and takes about 30mins to read through and complete  - we are confident you will feel more informed and empowered to join us in helping Carers feel more supported and understood.

So, if you are interested in nominating your workplace or club to host a Champion OR you fancy learning more about the training and becoming a Champion yourself please give Jacky a call on 01723 850155.
