Restology

Carers Plus Yorkshire often supports carers and families in the community who may be working through a range of difficulties - these can sometimes feel overwhelming, particularly in the current climate.

Whilst we aim to bring balance back into the lives of those we support, we feel it is also important to empower our families to build on the positives in their lives and caring roles. We discovered from colleagues in Scotland something called 'Respitality' and we wanted to bring a version of it to North Yorkshire!

What is Restology?

What is Restology?

Restology aims to provide opportunities for a pause or change in the everyday routines for unpaid family carers, those they care for,  and those we support in the community. An opportunity could take the guise of many different things, such as a swimming session, trip somewhere like the cinema/theatre or a treat time out in the form of getting your hair cut or tea and cake… Time out could be an hour, two or more and we all know a change of scene can also mean a chance to recharge the batteries or refresh the mind by trying something new!

For 2023 we have started building a Restology Pledge wall – a wall of pledges of support from local businesses across our areas!  You can click here to see the current offers available through this programme.

Why is Restology important to us?

Why is Restology important to us?

By working with local businesses to reduce some of the barriers our carers and families may have - be this accessibility, awareness or costs - we hope to also strengthen our local economy by enabling those we support to access more of the amazing opportunities we have available on our doorstep!

If you would like more details about our Restology Pledges, or you are a local business who would like to provide a pledge of Restology, then please do get in touch with us.
